How Gold Loan LTV (Loan-to-Value) Ratio Affects Your Disbursal Amount
The amount of money you receive against your gold ornaments depends strictly on the RBI's Loan-to-Value (LTV) framework.
1. The 75% LTV Cap Mandate
The Reserve Bank of India mandates that banks and NBFCs cannot lend more than 75% of the intrinsic market value of the net gold content. The remaining 25% serves as a safety buffer against bullion market price fluctuations.
2. Net Weight Calculation
During purity appraisal, the bank deducts the weight of all embedded gemstones, stones, pearls, and wax lac. Only the pure gold content (in 18, 22, or 24 carats) is valued.
